Payments & Refunds

Planning your adventure with us? Here’s everything you need to know about payments, cancellations, and refunds before you book your tour.


🔐 Booking & Deposits

To secure your spot, a non-refundable deposit is required:

  • R3,000 for flight tours
  • R2,000 for road tours

Installments are accepted, and you can pay the balance over time.

You can book online through our website and pay via a secure payment gateway, or book via whatsapp and email and pay via EFT. Please note: cash deposit bank charges will be billed to your account.


⏳ Payment Deadline

Full payment is due 21 working days before departure.

Late payments will incur a R500 administration fee.


❌ Cancellations & Refunds

If you cancel your booking, the following refund policy applies:

Time Before Departure Refund (% – Excl. Deposit & Airfare)
90+ days Full refund (excluding deposit and purchased airticket)
60–89 days 90% refundable (excluding deposit and purchased airticket)
30–59 days 60% refundable
Less than 30 days Non-refundable

Note: Once your flight is booked (with your approval), the cost of the ticket is non-refundable.


✅ 100% Refund Option

You may receive a full refund (excluding airfare if ticket already purchased) if you find a replacement traveler who pays the full amount for your spot.


🚫 Missed Tour or Late Arrival

There will be no refund if you:

  • Miss the tour
  • Arrive late for the bus or flight
  • Do not have the correct travel documents

Thrifty Adventures is not responsible for missed connections or delays caused by the client.


🔁 Rebooking/Transferring a Tour

  • R500 rebooking fee applies for changes made within 30 days of departure
  • You cannot transfer from a full-priced tour to a promotional deal
  • Tour bookings are non-transferrable to another person

📅 If We Postpone

If a tour is postponed due to border closures, low bookings, natural disasters, or similar causes:

  • No refund will be given
  • The tour will be rescheduled within 12 months
  • All payments will be carried forward

🛡 Travel Insurance is Strongly Recommended

We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover emergencies such as:

  • Illness or injury
  • Death in the family
  • Denied leave or work commitments
  • Personal cancellations

Note: Our cancellation policy still applies in all these cases.
