Mauritius: your questions answered
Do South Africans need a visa for Mauritius?
No. South African passport holders get a free entry permit on arrival, valid up to 90 days. You need a passport with at least six months' validity, proof of onward travel and accommodation — we provide both.
How much spending money do I need for Mauritius?
From R3,000 for meals not included and incidentals. Add around R1,000 to R1,500 for the optional South West Tour, plus whatever you want for water activities like jet ski, kayaking and parasailing. Mauritius is pricier than Southern Africa but cheaper than Europe.
How long is the flight?
About 4 hours direct from Johannesburg. No connections, no jet lag — Mauritius is 2 hours ahead of South Africa. It's one of the easiest international trips a South African can take.
Is the South West Tour worth it?
Most of our travellers say yes. It's the day you swim with dolphins, snorkel in clear water, see Crystal Rock and have lunch on Benitier Island. It's optional at around R1,000 to R1,500 because not everyone wants a full day on a boat — but it's usually the day people photograph most.
What should I pack for Mauritius?
Swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. Light clothing, plus something warmer for July and August evenings. Water shoes are useful on coral. Modest dress for temple visits on the island tours.
Is Mauritius good for solo travellers?
Yes, and it's one of our more relaxed tours — there's a lot of beach and downtime built in, which suits people who want to switch off. Most of our group travels solo and you'll be paired for accommodation unless you take a single room.
What is included in your Mauritius tour?
Return flights from OR Tambo, airport transfers, shared accommodation, all breakfasts, a welcome dinner, one local lunch, the North Island tour, the South Island tour, a tour experience leader and ground transport.

Yes. R3,000 secures your spot. We invoice the balance with a card payment link, or you settle by EFT in instalments before departure. No interest, no credit check.
