Day 1
Travel Day
- Travel from South Africa to Athens Greece
Day 2
- Arrive in Athens and Checkin at the Hotel.
- Free evening
Day 3
Athens
- Kick start the day by exploring the top highlights of Athens. These include the Acropolis of Athens, Parthenon, Erechtheion, Temple of Athena Nike, and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
- Hike or take a cable car up Mount Lycabettus and enjoy panoramic views of Athens and enjoy the sunset.
- TIP: dress comfortably, opt for lightweight and breathable clothing. Wear comfortable and supportive shoes especially when visiting archeological sites. Bring a sun hat, sunscreen and water.
- If you are to visit any historical or religious monuments it is important to dress modestly and respectfully.
Day 4
Athens
- Wander through the charming Plaka Neighborhood known for its picturesque streets, traditional taverns and vibrant atmosphere.
- Visit the ancient Agora, Roman Agora and the Olympian Zeus to delve into the city’s history.
- Make sure you pack all your clothes and get ready to travel to Santorini on Wednesday.
Day 5
Santorini
- Checkout and be ready to leave, but first enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
- Take a ferry to Santorini
- Explore Oia Village famous for its white- washed buildings, and blue domed churches as well as its breathtaking sunset.
- Visit the Archaeological Site of Akrotiri. Explore the well-preserved ruins of this ancient Minoan city, often referred to as the “Pompeii of the Aegean.
- Evening: Birthday celebrations!
Day 6
Santorini
- Explore the volcanic beaches of Santorini. These are popular beaches with black volcanic sand, beach bars, and water sports facilities.
- Carry your swim suite and water shoes if you intend on participating in water sports.
- Wear beach appropriate clothing.
- Visit the archaeological site of Akrotiri to discover the ancient Minoan city preserved under volcanic ash.
Day 7
Free Day
- This is a free day to do items that are on your bucket list but not on the itinerary
- One suggestion is to visit Fira town, The island’s capital, known for its lively atmosphere, shops, cafes, and panoramic views of the caldera.
- Another suggestion is to take the Santorini Caldera cruise for half a day or go for wine tasting alongside a traditional Greek lunch.
Day 8
Travel Day
- Depart for South Africa
