- Passport with at least six months' validity and blank pages for stamps — you cross two borders on this trip
- Mozambique visa — the fee is not included
- Travellers under 18: unabridged birth certificate, valid passport, and an affidavit from any parent not travelling
- Recommended spending money from R3,000
- Meticais or rand for Mozambique — rand is widely accepted in Ponta do Ouro
