What you need
- Passport with at least six months' validity and blank pages for stamps
- Travellers under 18: unabridged birth certificate, valid passport, and an affidavit from any parent not travelling
- Recommended spending money from R3,000, plus a budget for the optional entries
- Yellow fever certificate if arriving from or transiting an East or Central African country
- Clean, undamaged US dollar notes issued after 2013 — older notes are often refused
- Universal adapter — Zanzibar uses the UK-style three-pin
